Our Pillars
Here, you will learn about our 11 pillars that we strive to represent within the sisterhood of Kappa Phi Zeta.
Respect
We respect every member of this group and will support them equally; no matter views, culture, or differences. We honor the idea of self-respect. We will also honor the respect of the group as a whole by representing the group in a way that models our group values. We will also respect everyone else around us.
Unity
We are unified as sisters, to help and support one another and live by our values as a unit. As a group of sisters, we stand as individuals that make a strong family unit. We should always strive to be in accord, harmonizing, and complimenting each others’ character.
Honesty
We will be honest with all members to uphold the integrity of the group and also the integrity of ourselves as individuals. We will also reflect honesty with the individuals that we encounter. Honesty is the potting soil that will help grow a healthy family of sisters.
Acceptance
Through respect, honesty and unity we will accept all the qualities of the women in the group and the same will be done to each of us. As strong women, we believe the acceptance of diverse people, cultures, views, and ethnicities are important building blocks to our society.
Scholarship
As a sisterhood we take pride in academic study and achievement at the collegiate level. We believe that academic scholarship is an important building block to not only society, but to ourselves.
Leadership
As unified sisters we will try to be leaders for not only each other but for the rest of Doane University and society. We want to set a strong and inspiring example for everyone to see and inspire all of those around us.
Integrity
Integrity means adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty, unity and wholeness. This stands for all of the other values that we strongly believe in. We believe that the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles creates a solid foundation for not only a successful sisterhood, but for being a successful woman in society.
Loyalty
We strive to be loyal toward, not only each other, but toward our friends, family, community, and acquaintances around us. Loyalty is the support system of any friendship, but most importantly to a successful sisterhood. We are devoted to support each other no matter what, and to be faithful no matter what the cost. The health of the sisterhood - both as a whole and as individuals - is always a priority.
Spirituality
The spirit, in definition, is a non-physical part of a person that is the seat of what makes character. As Kappas, we strive to be as in-touch and true to our natural characters as possible. The connection that we have with this sisterhood is something bigger than ourselves. Whether it is spirituality with a capital “S” or a lowercase “s” we have a connection with each other that is greater than friendship. We stress, above all else, the definition of what it means to us to be part of a sisterhood by strengthening the connection we have with one another, not only emotionally and mentally, but spiritually. This means that we answer to the higher calling of the sisterhood as a whole. We are devoted to supporting each other no matter what and to be faithful no matter what the cost.
Empowerment
As a sisterhood, we give one another the authority to change ourselves for the better, to see the positivity within our everyday lives, and to constantly be in a state of building one another up. We empower through giving tools to complete our days to the best of our abilities and enable each other. We give ourselves permission to pursue excellence, happiness, and success.
Devotion
Devotion is, in its primary state, the act of selfless dedication. As sisters, we pursue affection to the persons within Kappa Phi Zeta and utter loyalty to the principles upon which it was built.
