Our Motto: Shield First; Sword Second
Just as it was stated with our symbol, we live by the motto "Shield First; Sword Second". We protect our own before ourselves. We care for our pack before we attack.


Our Mascot: The Wolf
Wolves develop close relationships and strong social bonds. They often demonstrate deep affection for their family and may even sacrifice themselves to protect the family unit.
No wolf is like another. Each one is unique, but holds the pack together.


Our Flower: The Gladiolus
The name "gladiolus" means "little sword" in Latin! This name refers to their sword-shaped leaves! They are a symbol of gladiators in the Ancient Rome!
The gladiolus stands for remembrance and infatuation, faithfulness and honor in the language of flowers.


Our Symbol: Sword and Shield
As you can see, we place our swords behind our shield. This is because we choose to use our words prior to acting on events. We also protect our own before defending ourselves. We are a pack and we love our own.



Philanthropy: Women Empowerment and Mental Illness Awareness
It shall be the purpose of the sisterhood that we, the women of Kappa Phi Zeta, help grow and empower strong and confident women who will contribute their talents to the community. We empower through giving tools to complete our days to their best of our abilities and enable each other.
It shall be the purpose of the sisterhood to unify and grow as a sisterhood mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We honor the idea of self-respect. Mental health stretches far beyond anxiety and depression. We want to show awareness for ALL mental health. We are here for support and to give others outlets to find the help they need.

Our Colors: Silver and Turquoise

The color silver has interesting properties like gray, but is more fun, lively, and playful. Silver is believed to be a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us. As a gemstone silver represent hope, unconditional love, meditation, mystic visions, tenderness, kindness, sensitivities, and psychic abilities.
The color turquoise is associated with meanings of refreshing, feminine, calming, sophisticated, energy, wisdom, serenity, wholeness, creativity, emotional balance, good luck, spiritual grounding, friendship, love, joy, tranquility, patience, intuition, and loyalty. The turquoise gemstone is the symbol of friendship and brings peace to the home and good fortune to the owner. The turquoise stone is believed to carry with it great truth and wisdom inside it!

Year Founded: 2014

Our sorority was founded by 12 beautiful and empowering founding mothers in 2014. Through countless meetings and discussions, Kappa Phi Zeta Sorority earned it's charter. These ladies are people we look up to and inspire to be. We strive to be strong, empowering women for fight for what they believe in!


Largest Pledge Class: PC' 20
The largest pledge class of Kappa Phi Zeta Sorority is PC'20 with a total of 9 ladies pledging to Kappa Phi Zeta! We enjoyed welcoming in our new wolves into the wolf pack!


The meaning behind the letters: Kappa
Kappa means facing the inevitable. We are prepared to face the truth, stand up, and make the best of today, tomorrow and years from now. We are prepared to know that there are some things that we just cannot control, but want to keep moving forward. We will carry our sword and shield with pride, and run with our pack to our next path.


The meaning behind the letters: Phi
Phi stands for intuition and renewal. We see this letter as a symbol that we recognize somethings that are out of our control. We understand what is going on and resume our activities. We don't want to drag out our group for one instance. We want to understand the instance, and continue our positivity and support.


The meaning behind the letters: Zeta
Zeta stands for sacrifice. We sacrifice ourselves to protect our wolf pack. We hold our sword and shield proudly to protect our wolf pack at any costs. We defend our sisters when they need and keep Kappa Phi Zeta strong!


Our mission statement
We, the women of Kappa Phi Zeta, strive to accept and appreciate all our members, embracing our differences while holding onto our shared values. We support one another through our thoughts, words, and actions and devote ourselves to one another through our core values and the Doane Greek community values.
